The new Mountain Combat Boots, issued to troops deploying to Afghanistan as part of the Rapid Fielding Initiative process, feature a tougher, more durable sole for gripping the mountainous Afghan terrain.

Did you get the boots issued to you?
Do you like them?

Post anything funny you remember your DS use to say!
--------------------------------------------------------

DS: "Are you having an out of body experience, private?!"
PVT: "No, drill sergeant!"
DS: "Then why are you moving at attention? Why does your head betray you?"

DS: "Private... I'm starting to think your momma should've swallowed you."

DS: PVT jody is at home screwing your girl right now how you feel about that?
PVT: DS I don't have a girlfriend back home.
DS: you gay PVT?
PVT: No DS
DS: Fine then jody is screwing your mom HA...

DS: I want it to be so quite in here i want to hear a mouse piss on a cotton ball!

DS: We run everywhere we go...........Nod with me!

DS: Private, I know the Army told you that you would be provided with everything you need, but you were actually expected to BYOD. Do you know what that means? It means Bring Your Own Brain.

Did you use the search engine?

Try this one http://ncoschool.com/modules/download ... file.php?cid=157&lid=2723

If it works, read the ACCP rules and attention to detail may keep you long enough around here!

The only people that used to wear black beret's were rangers. Then when everyone started wearing them they weren't special anymore so they changed the color.

Likely the same thing here. Infantry is the only one to wear shoulder cords to make them unique. They also wear an infantry badge just for being infantry, and little blue lapels under their U.S. and branch insignia on their collars. I remember my drill sgt in basic liked telling everyone that he had a blue ring around his insignia on his drill sgt hat cause it meant he was under investigation for hitting a soldier. At the time we didn't know better. :D

I'm going to agree, the senior medics standard is his only standard. The closest thing I have ever seen to a regulation packing list is one provided for training scenarios such as that in TC 8-800. But that list wouldn't survive the scrutiny of experience and reality.

The two major factors are going to be; slimming it down to the essentials as previously stated, but mostly it has to do with how many people he is typically responsible for while conducting ops. If you maneuver an entire platoon with a single medic, he's pretty much going to be stuck carrying a full aid-bag, though IFAK's and CLS guys should be factored in. And yes, CLS bags SHOULD be at his disposal...if for some reason they are not, I would consider taking a serious look at local SOP. I've done a lot of SKT/LRP style missions, 6 people max, the most I ever carried was a butt pack, but was also responsible for carrying an extra radio battery, a drum for our SAW or 240 gunner, grenades and other mission essential equipment, so packing light was neccesary.

Also, not to get into a pissing contest, as everyones experience and opinion varies, but 6-8 bags of fluid seems a bit extreme for any situation. NS/LR even Hextend, are not really 'essential' bleeding control materials. Even in the desert climates, I've never used that much fluid for dehydration or heat injury purposes.
