News : Closing Down NCOSchool

Posted by Adium on 2011/9/27 20:23:31 (666 reads)

NCOSchool has grown to a point we could have never expected. It was not designed to handle this amount of traffic and has reached its limits as to what we can do with the site. After careful consideration we have decided that its best to simply start over... from scratch.

Our new site is called ArmyGuru.com. Where NCOSchool has been more of a directory of files sorted by file type, Army Guru will be sorted by subject matter. We feel this way you will have complete access to everything you need in a single location without being forced to hunt down a file that may or may not exist in a separate location on the site.

There will be 3 main categories, training, templates, and reference. Training material will include various types of material for briefings and classes, such as powerpoint files, videos, pictures, links, and literature. Templates will focus mainly on custom counseling statement and memorandum templates. References will be most everything else, like cadence, duty station info, software, etc.

We also understand that some do not like the concept behind ACCP and believe this site to be only useful for cheating. This has caused the Army to block this site from military computers and others have become paranoid at even visiting here at all. Some say its cheating, some say its not, personally its just an annoying headache, especially since ACCP is responsible for less than 10% of the content on this site and still most everyone believes that is all we have to offer. So to avoid future headaches with the new site there is a second site dedicated to just ACCP. It's called ACCPSucks.com. (Can you tell what I think of the entire ACCP system?)

As of right now NCOSchool has been locked so that no new registrations, posts, or uploads can be made to the site. Once all the content here is no longer of any use and has been migrated over to the new site it will simply cease to exist. Locking it only ensures that no new content will be mistakenly created here instead of the new site.

Feature

ShamSchool merges with NCOSchool

After careful consideration I believe it is in the best interest for everyone to shut down ShamSchool and combine everything into a single site. Instead of trying to maintain two separate sites I now only have to maintain a single site, which makes it easier for me to notice when problems occur, moderate the content, and perform upgrades and other routine maintenance. Bottom line, this makes it easier for me to concentrate on providing more content into a single location.

One of the largest benefits of these sites merging into a single location is the search engine. With a single database you can easily search everything available. With everything I am expecting to include on the site it will make it easy to find anything you are looking for with a quick search.

If you were a ShamSchool user you will have to register for a new account at NCOSchool.  It's still free so why wait?!?

Latest

Monthly Newsletter

This is the first of possibly (hopefully) many more newsletters. It not only will include what is new and changing with the site, but everything else that is going on in the Army.

Every month I am going to intend on releasing a newsletter like this one. It will let you know what's new and what's changing. If you want to participate or have something worth sharing, drop me an e-mail using the feedback form and I will include it here.

Suggestions?

I'm always open to suggestions.  There are moderators on the site besides myself, but they are there as a secondary precaution to watch out for OPSEC.  So the site is run primarily by myself.

What's your MOS worth?

Ever wonder what your odds of getting promoted are? Or looking to reclass and want to get as much information about that MOS before you make the commitment and find out you can't get promoted. We have processed the promotion data for the last 5 years and used this information to create graphs that give you a visual representation of how the promotion points have behaved over the past 5 years.

Perform a search for the MOS you are looking for and you will find it in the results under the MOS info section.

Unsolved ACCP Requests

Here is a list of the oldest requests for ACCP files in the forum. If you can help these guys out, it would benefit everyone later down the road as well.
